Day 1 starts and for this first week here are some helpful tips. First, try to schedule your practice time this week so you know exactly when you will be practicing. It may be helpful to make it the same time each day. But make it a point to get the mat out and get on it, even if it is for just 10 minutes - 10 minutes a day counts! Second, allow yourself to ease into a daily practice. If this is newer to you, then think of it like pacing yourself on a run. In other words, don't try to do too much too soon.
This week's suggestions off the mat are to pay attention to what you eat. Consider keeping a food journal. In addition, pay attention to how you eat. Do you take time to enjoy your meal or are you rushing or eating on the run? Become aware of all your dietary habits, including what your drink.
Try meditating daily. Make it simple and doable. Try 5 minutes a day. Just close your eyes and listen to your breath. Bring your attention to the triangular area from the tip of your nose across the base of your upper lip and focus there. Feel the breath and any sensations that arise.
This first week is all about gathering information. Don't forget to share your experiences. Talk to you soon.
